Perry Kezh, PhD

About Dr. Kezh
Dr. Perry Kezh serves as the Head Research Scientist at The Roxbury Institute in Los Angeles, where she works closely with Dr. Karen Herbst in her role as Head of Research. Together, they lead efforts to advance the scientific understanding of lipedema and related adipose tissue disorders, with a focus on bridging clinical care and translational research.
Dr. Kezh earned her PhD in Genetics from Clemson University in 2023. Her doctoral research focused on genome editing and the metabolic dynamics of host pathogen interactions. She went on to complete postdoctoral training at University of Minnesota and Virginia Tech, where her work centered on the intersection of immunology, metabolism, and genetics. These areas are critical to understanding complex, chronic conditions like lipedema.
At The Roxbury Institute, Dr. Kezh plays a key role in advancing research initiatives that aim to bring clarity to historically misunderstood conditions. In collaboration with Dr. David Ross Smart, Dr. Aria Vazirnia, and Dr. David Amron, she is spearheading the Institute’s Biorepository Initiative. This program is designed to systematically collect and analyze tissue samples to deepen understanding of lipedema, Dercum’s disease, and other adipose connective tissue disorders.
Her work supports The Roxbury Institute’s broader mission to combine rigorous scientific research with compassionate, evidence based care, helping to define standards, improve diagnostics, and enhance outcomes for patients.
Every patient deserves care that addresses not just their physical condition, but their overall well-being. My approach to lipedema treatment is rooted in understanding the profound impact this condition has on patients' lives, and I'm committed to providing both exceptional surgical outcomes and compassionate care that restores confidence and quality of life.
